What is Fasting Insulin?
Fasting insulin is a measure of the amount of insulin in your blood after an overnight fast (usually 8-12 hours). Insulin is the hormone responsible for regulating blood sugar and storing fat. When your body becomes resistant to insulin (insulin resistance), the body compensates by producing more insulin, which can make it harder to lose weight.

Why Fasting Insulin Matters
Having elevated fasting insulin is a sign that your body is struggling with insulin resistance, a condition that is tightly linked to obesity, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and difficulty losing weight. Even if your blood sugar levels seem fine, high insulin levels indicate that your body is struggling to keep up with the demands of blood sugar regulation, making fat loss more difficult.

What are Optimal Fasting Insulin Levels?
-Optimal fasting insulin: 2-6 µU/mL (microunits per milliliter).
-Elevated insulin (which may indicate insulin resistance): >10 µU/mL.
-Anything above 10 µU/mL suggests your body is likely in a state of insulin resistance, which can create metabolic roadblocks that hinder weight loss and increase your risk of chronic diseases.
